March 2026 mystery
The Beach at Low Tide
A body is discovered below the high tide mark on a small southern Tasmanian beach at low tide. The person who found the body reported that they must have drowned.
Two constables arrive at the scene and reach the same conclusion. They lift the body to carry it to a waiting coroner’s van.
Their sergeant sees them lift the body and insists they replace the body and phone the Homicide Unit. There are no obvious signs of violence, but the sergeant is certain that the victim either died of natural causes or was murdered. Either way, she is adamant that they did not drown.
